My old buddy JT once said he never met a Sawdust beer he didn’t like. I second that emotion*. And as far as I’m concerned I don’t think I ever met an Amber I didn’t like. But once you start adding things to ambers, you enter the danger zone and I’m not talking about a Kenny Loggins song here**. Messing with Amber is serious business where I come from.
So has Sawdust been successful in adding honey to a perfectly good amber? Of course they have, once again Sawdust has come through in the clutch.
A beautiful light amber pour with an off-white honeycomb on top. A nice fresh aroma, malt with a touch of sweetness, honey perhaps, but so subtle it could also be my imagination or all the subliminal stimuli***. A nice amber malt flavour with a touch of sweetness, very subtle, as it should be. They haven’t messed with Amber, their honey has complimented Amber. Smooth with a nice refreshing finish, delicious. As it warmed the honey came out a bit more but never too much.
