The Charge of the Haze Brigade

Haze Brigade

Prince Eddy's Brewing Company

6.5% Alcohol

The haze brigade sounds like the cranky old men the morning after our AGM. “Theirs is not to reason why, theirs is but to do and feel like death drawn over the next day.”*  And the emaciated fellow on the can looks like the cranky old men the morning after our AGM. Or a Grateful Dead fan. But this Haze Brigade is a NEIPA from Prince Eddy’s, they tell us it’s “the fruit banger of your hazy dreams”. I don’t recall any fruit bangers in my dreams, hazy or lucid.

This brew pours as orange as an orange. No dead head here, there’s lots of froth to quaff. A juicy hoppy aroma, is this the fruit banger I have been supposedly dreaming of? The taste is juicy with a pillowy mouthfeel, not really hoppy but it does have a boozy funky back bite. The jury is out on this one, time to deliberate with another swig. It’s smoothing out a bit into a tropical citrus juicy smooth haze. It gets a bit funky boozy at the end. A moving target this one, all in all a solid NEIPA.

*Editor’s Comment: Once again our reviewer has butchered another classic. Alfred Lord Tennyson’s “The Charge of the Light Brigade” includes the famous line “Theirs not to reason why, theirs but to do and die”.
