6 different hops with 6 different malts and 6% ABV = 666, the number of the beast as per the good book. According to GLB “The devil made me brew it.” Great play on Flip Wilson’s catch phrase from the 70’s, the devil made me do it. I can’t remember if I saw him on Laugh In or the Ed Sullivan Show back in the day, hilarious.
But this brew is no laughing matter. Dark dark with a nice tan head, pretty pour. Complex aroma leads you into a harsh first swig. And a harsh second swig. They describe it as bold and bitter, which is right on the money. Strong flavour, and harsh bitters, which you get accustomed to eventually but never go away.
It is a unique brew, strong in flavour, bitters and ABV, and not exactly an everyday during the game style quaff. Enjoyable but not one I will be pouring again in the near future.
