The Mighty Eagle Soars (and Scores)

Mighty Eagle

Blood Brothers Brewery

4.5% Alcohol

I was mighty thirsty so the timing was right for a frosty cold thirst-quenching easy drinking big swig Bob’s your uncle and Betty’s your aunt brewski, and this Mighty Eagle seemed like the can that could. As American as a Canadian beer can get, which hopefully isn’t as American as some of the South of the border big beer brewers. Don’t get me wrong, I love the most powerful nation in the world. The warm weather, the sites, the sounds, the sports, the entertainment industry (politics), and of course the craft beer. But let’s face it, some of the US big brewer brews are focused on volume consumption rather than craft connoisseur quaffing, and in doing so leave something to be desired, that being flavour.

I’m not much of a day drinker, so I’m pouring this brew in the dark of the night rather than by the dawn’s early light. This all American (Canadian) beer pours bright and clear, it’s all happening here.  A baker’s bread malt lager nose, a lager by any other name would smell as tasty. Speaking of taste, it’s bread malt sweet, no shortage of flavour, with a honey sweet side to it. A honey lager? A flat mild bitter crisp on the finish. Switching into full quench mode, the smooth and satisfying big swigs attest to the easy drinkingness of this all American (Canadian). Great flavour and drinkability come together for a thirst quenching combo. This Brothers Blood brew may or may not be a honey lager but it’s definitely a honey of a lager.
