Lots to unravel here. I asked the COMDB translation department about the name “Omnipollo”*, assuming it was Swedish since the group originated there. They tell me that is not the case and in fact the name originates from the English word omnipotence and the Spanish word for chicken, pollo. So it means a chicken with great or unlimited power? A god-like chicken? That can’t be right, but I know better than to question the translation department.
The Chinese Zodiac
As for the name Zodiac, I had to check with the Editor on this one since Ancient Greek is not in the translation department’s contract. The name means “cycle or circle of little animals”. The can has the alien (rather than animal) circle of 12. This is no run of the mill zodiac, that’s for sure. Maybe this should be a Chinese Zodiac with an omnipotent rooster***?
I thought with all this alien zodiac going on a Tom Robbins reference and a yin yang might be a good photo comp. Why? I don’t know why, but Simon Sinek tells us to start with Why. Why? Why not. Where was I? Oh yea, beer review.
I had a craving for an IPA, a hankering one might say, I was yearning, longing, desiring and thirsting for one. Time to pour this Zodiac. A golden orangy hazy pour with a blanket of snowy foam atop. A very pretty IPA pour. Nice fruit and hop aroma with a bit of malt in the background? It tastes of fruit with a hop slight bitter on the finish, very good. Full tropical fruit, mild hops and a bit of a bitter (funky) bite on the backside. A solid traditional IPA.
This isn’t the first Omnipollo we have sampled, and it probably won’t be the last. Neither omnipotent or potent, just a nice fruit forward easy drinking mild mannered minimal bitter IPA.
