When I have the pleasure of visiting a taproom like the Ports, or similar establishments, I’m usually a flight risk, so I try to order one and done. But this Flight doesn’t seem risky at all. Another US offering, this time a light shorty from the oldest brewer in the States, Yuengling. In Canada a light beer is between 2.6% and 4% ABV so technically this beer would not classify as a Northern light, but let me assure you, it is F-light.

My love of amber was responsible for how much I enjoyed Yuengling’s lager, great beer. So let’s see what happens when they lighten up things considerably.

A light gold clear pour, through and through. The head was gone before the pic could be clicked, that quick. The aroma reminded me of …..water. Let’s put it this way, those airport sniffer dogs wouldn’t catch a whiff of jiff with this one. It tasted light and clean with a very mild malt flavour. No hops, or bitters, or sweet. And then there was none. Yep, very easy drinking, it’s crushable I’ll give it that. I think they have given us exactly what they said they would, a very light refreshing easy drinking beer. If they shared a bit of the flavour from their excellent lager then you would have an excellent lite. But this Flight tonight* is economy, not first class. At least it didn’t crash.

*Editor’s Comment: “This Flight Tonight” is a song by Joni Mitchell from her 1971 landmark album “Blue”. The Scottish hard rock band Nazareth’s cover of the song on their 1973 album “Loud & Proud” charted.
