What’s So Weird About Delicious?

Van Full of Weirdos

Refined Fool Brewing Co.

6.2% Alcohol

A silly beer name but these brewers are no fools. Well in fact they are. Refined Fools that is. I still remember Mr.T’s famous line from Rocky III which launched his career, “I pity the fool “* referring to anyone who would be foolish enough to cross him and receive the obligatory Mr.T beat down, and that was Mr.T’s sensitive side!

RF tells us to “gather some fellow weirdos and enjoy a fresh squeezed vacation in a can”, implying that I am a weirdo**. I had to ponder that one a bit. Have I just been insulted or complimented?  Usually I know. I remember seeing my first hippie in the early 60’s, a neighbour girl returning home from who knows where with bell bottom jeans, an umbrella (no rain in sight), and flowers in her hair. She looked weird to me, but hippie weird, not weirdo weird.  If you were a real hippie you would be even older than me right now, geriatric hippies, that seems weird. Ever notice that when you use a word like weird too much it starts to look….weird. This review is starting to turn… odd.

As for a vacation, I already have a “Vacation Voucher”, but I wasn’t intending on any hijacked holiday with a bunch of weirdos, no offense intended to any weirdos or hippies reading this, live and let live I always say. But after dealing with all these clowns it’s time to become part of the circus and drink this beer.

Wow. What a nice, juicy, foggy and fruit in suspension pour. Suspension of particles as opposed to suspension of disbelief, because I believe this brew will taste delicious. Aroma ditto! Tastes juicy fruity yum citrus and tropical, with mild hops and a touch of bitter! As I worked my way down the glass the bitter took a coffee break leaving fruity hoppy and delicious to run the office. A very enjoyable juicy IPA, not weird, odd, strange, unusual, or bizarre. The appropriate adjective that certainly comes to mind is, in a word, delicious.

*Editor’s Comment: The expression “I pity the fool” was around long before Sylvestre Stallone penned that dialogue. In 1960 Bobby Blue Bland released a song entitled “I Pity the Fool”. “I pity the fool who falls in love with you, You’ll break his heart one day then you’ll laugh and walk away.” The song was a hit and was covered by many groups including a mid 60’s British group called “The Mannish Boys” with a young lead singer named David Bowie.

**Editor’s Comment: The formal definition of weirdo is a person whose dress or behavior seems strange or eccentric. There is no reference about cranky, or old, or drinking beer; behaviours which may seem eccentric to some but appear quite normal to all of your weirdo friends.
