What’s Wrong with this Picture?

Cream Ale

Muskoka Brewery

5% Alcohol

On the beer can there is a picture of a nice big Muskoka chair on the dock with a frosty brew on the chair arm. A bit of a breeze, birds in the air, all very summery and relaxing. But what’s wrong with this picture? Let me tell you. In the background there is a canoe with three huge kegs of beer paddling towards your dock, your regular beer keg dock delivery service I guess? What the hell is that all about? Ever tried to get into a canoe from the dock, maybe a bit tippy so you have to be careful, right? Ever tried to load a 100 pound keg of beer into a canoe? Ever tried to stack two more 100 pound kegs in that same canoe? A canoe can dunk your ass in the water quicker than you can say “what the…” and then you have three kegs of beer in the bottom of Lake Muskoka getting the pickerel pickled and two canoeists, let’s just call them Bob and Dunk, swimming for their lives with no life jackets on and crying over their lost kegs. That is what’s wrong with this picture.

Now on to the beer. A nice cream ale, looks good, pours nice. Good flavour, a little hoppier than I would have guessed for a cream ale so not as smooth as one might expect. Not enough bitter to turn me off but not smooth enough to turn me on. All good but not great. They call it “cascade hoppiness” on the can which appears to be an apt descriptor as it stays with you the whole brew.  Nice cream ale, but don’t take one with you in your canoe.
