We have reviewed a Sinister Minister but I am not much of an expert on Saints although we have met a few of them during our reviews. There was good old Saint Ambroise, and then St. Augustine and St. Arnulf, who are patron Saints of Beer and Brewers. And St. Patrick of course, as well as St. John*. And now we have St. André of Montreal,** a Canadian saint to boot, well done Brother.
Cool Beer has brewed this lager in the bohemian style. When it comes to beer (as opposed to a hippie lifestyle) Bohemia is a region of the Czech Republic which makes this a Czech style lager. Just remember, a pilsner is a lager, but not all lagers are pilsners. Back to the case in point, and let’s see if old St. André has another miracle in store for us.
A beatific clear amber pour, no bubbles, with an ever so thin halo head. Mild bread malt aroma and not hoppy but fresh. Interesting. This is a full flavoured amber lager, hooray for the bohemians. This beer has a nice easy drinking amber flavour, and then a crisp finish reminiscent of some Czech pilsners but with no hops or bitters to interrupt your drinking ease. A bit of sweet evolving in the finish. Great beer. Not a miracle but close to heavenly.
