155 years on Oct 1st! They say Moosehead Breweries is Canada’s oldest independent brewery, well done Moosehead! The world can always use a little more Canada. As old as Canada, and that’s no easy portage. For some reason I always thought Moosehead was a Newfoundland brew but the brewery is based in Saint John, New Brunswick. Owned by the Oland family. Their website shows all of the Olands with a beer in their hand, well done Olands.

On the dock, sunny day, drinking from a frosty cold bottle so a Moosehead with no head, a headless moose so to speak. It wasn’t my first Moosehead and it won’t be my last. Easy drinking, great flavour, all around a very enjoyable lager. 10 points for great taste, 4 points for smoothness, and 2 points for being fiercely independent and still Canadian.
