After a visit to the windswept and craggy shores of Manitoulin in search of the ever elusive Haw berry, it’s time to shift gears and grab a seat on the sun drenched sands of PEI. Armchair island hopping right into the PEI Brewing Company’s Beach Chair. Both Island brewer’s tell us that we’re “on Island time now”,* although Manitoulin is on Eastern Standard Time and Charlottetown is on Atlantic Standard Time. That means at 4PM on Manitoulin it’s 5 PM somewhere. **
A guest reviewer reviewed this brew from a PEI beach chair while watching the waves of Dalvay by the Sea. Sounds like the setting for a good review. I sampled this brew on a plus 15 ⁰ C December day, reminiscing about those halcyon days of summer, and watching the Leafs shut out the jilted Jaguars. Sounds like another setting for a good review.
A summery sunshine golden pour, with a bit of hot weather haze. The breaker news is a white sand head line. Light malt aroma leads to a mild malt body with a touch bitter no lager sweet in the house. A balanced brew, the bitters trying to be crisp. A refreshing summer beach brew for sure. A consistent quaff from foam to finish.
