It’s the first of September and we know what that means don’t we. It means October is only 30 days away and we know what that means, don’t we. Ommpahpah ear worms, lederhosen rashes, and festbier festering. Yes, Oktoberfest looms large. Our friends at Something in the Water have something special brewing for Oktoberfest. That something is caramel and the water is Grand River,* and the result is this big bold brewski.

One and done training regime for the AGM.
But before Oktoberfest the COMDB AGM is only a few days away, and that is definitely not a one and done day. So how does a one and done partaker like myself train for such a rigorous test as the AGM? Little one and done to big one and done of course. And this is a big one at 568ml. There’s more to pour, por favor!
For this special festbier I brought out the beer boot but truth be told I never much enjoyed booty beer. So, I have a beauty (not booty) pour in my big lager glass. A rich amber brown glow with a big off white head. Caramel aroma, this beer smells good enough to eat. The taste is a full bodied malty caramel sweet with a crisp finish, very tasty. Well balanced and deceptively easy drinking despite the high ABV and the bold malt backbone. This is a caramel lover’s beer. Balanced and consistent from big froth to final quaff.
Big can, big flavour, big swig, big smile. Caramel, you old smoothy.
