And so it is.
Summer stout season is almost here, time to kick things off early with a soon to be summertime stout. And not a moment too soon after a week that included a less than the best amber, a lackadaisical lager, a far too sober carpenter, and a bitter bear. * It seemed like there was no where to go but up. Time for the self acclaimed “yummy” It’s a Stout of a stout, hopefully a brew as tasty as advertised. JT did sample a beer named Yummy! which he deemed to be worthy of its moniker, as well as super suds status,
I did recall a Kensington stout or two that we processed back in the day. Their white stout was an ale with aspirations unfulfilled, while their peppermint stout was a candy cane crash. Then again, Kensington’s Amazing Beer lived up to it’s name, so if this stout plays its cards right maybe it can follow suit.
A dark not quite black, welcome back, stout of a pour, with an ever so thin and trim tan head. Looking sharp. The aroma is stoutastic! Roasted cocoa on the nose. First swig is a cocoa smooth roasted malt, sweet and tasty. The word yummy does come to mind. Smooth but just a touch of bitters to make life interesting. Great balance, this brew is smooth and sweet and hard to beat. It begs the question can a stout be crushable? Then again it’s too tasty to rush.
Not just a soon to be summertime stout, this is an about time and anytime stout. It’s so tasty that it is quite possibly even an every time stout!
