Beyond the Pale brewing company is an Ottawa area brewer that has been around for a while. Starting in 2012, they have improved their digs and expanded to their current taproom and restaurant in 2019. So if you live in the Ottawa area you are likely aware of these guys already. But for the rest of us, this brewer is just starting to get noticed, and it is certainly worth noticing.
This is a delicious brew that is full of hoppy goodness without having any irritating additions. It is definitely hazy, but the taste is very clean with crisp fruitiness that wakes your mouth up on first sip, but encourages a second. This is a very fine brew in the NEIPA style. The brewery has some fun as well, with their label that this is a “North East” pale ale instead of the usual “New England”. The label has a comic strip with someone eating hops for breakfast, the loud colours on the can match the name of the beer … you know that someone at this brewery is making really good beer, but not taking themselves too seriously.
If you are looking for a full flavour hazy IPA, this is a great choice. I will be having some more as soon as I get back to Ottawa to make an investment.
