Facebook says you can’t have more than 5000 friends.* Dunbar says your brain can handle around 150 of them. But Dunbar defined a friend as someone “you would not feel embarrassed about joining uninvited for a drink if you happened to bump into them in a bar.” As far as that definition goes, it may well depend on who’s buying. **
I think Aristotle was on the right track when he said “A friend to all is a friend to none”. Which begs the question, can you have too many friends? I can think of one politician these days that wishes he had one less friend in his past.
I’m not sure if Prince Eddy’s is bragging or complaining about having “so many friends” but I would propose that the Cranky Old Men can be counted among them, having sampled a few of their brews. We said “muchas gracias” to their De Nada, and we debunked the theory that white men can’t jump with Eddy’s Dunkel.
The PE PR gang tell us that drinking this beer “is like riding a cheetah through a tropical rainforest then plunging into a pineapple-scented oasis.” Although my cheetah riding days are over, I still took the plunge and popped the top on this light NEIPA. Time to end this digression and sample this session.
A pale golden pour, bright and light. A nice slim and trim white head. A tropical fruit and tart hoppy nose. It has a nice full aroma to it. And a nice full taste to go with it. The upfront citrus tropical fruit makes for an easy drinking body, followed by a not over the top hop finish. An easy drinking session IPA but with lots of character to it, not watered down, it’s juiced up. I’m not too sure about the rainforest ride and oasis plunge, but this brew combines great flavour and balance with easy drinking. When it comes to a session IPA you couldn’t ask for more.
Prince Eddy’s will be making new friends and keeping old ones with this brew.
