Game Theory

Cameron's Brewing Co.

7% Alcohol

Nudge but don’t bang, feel the ball, finesse those flippers. That’s not game theory, that’s fact derived from hundreds of quarters fed into Flash. But once Space Invaders, Asteroids, Galaga and Centipede and all those other 1980 “new age” games hit the bars, that was the death knell for pinball. *

If you think Game Theory is figuring out when the ducks are going to fly over the blind you’re probably not a Nobel Laureate. ** If you are reading this beer review there is a pretty good chance you aren’t one either.*** But what Game Theory is, is a “new age” IPA from Cameron’s Brewing, and we’re ready to play.

CB has gone to the ends of the Earth to brew this one. literally. Nectaron and Montueka, Kiwi hops, are this brew’s juicer producers. Golden, opaque with a particle or two in suspension, the pour is in play. A juicy fruit gum nose on this one, super juicy aroma. A thin mouthfeel with lots of tropical juice to go with mild hops and a soft bitters finish and aftertaste. Light and easy for an IPA with a resume of 7% and 50IBU.  Definitely big swiggable. The unbalanced big juice little hops combined with a watery mouthfeel makes for a nice new age summer quencher of an IPA.

No conspiracy theory here, this brew has game.

*Editor’s Comment: Flash was one of the most popular pinball games ever made. Not to be confused with the DC comic book character The Flash, the name may have derived from it being the first pinball machine to employ flash lamps. Space Invaders and Asteroids were released in 1979.  Galaga followed in 1981, a fixed shooter game where you scroll horizontally across the screen shooting aliens as they cascade down the screen towards you. These games marked the end of other pub game dominance, pinball, shuffleboard, darts.

That seems obvious.

**Editor’s Comment: Game Theory is the study of mathematical models to define strategic interactions. The theories have been widely applied in the areas of negotiation and economics and decision making in general. The concept is not new, but was developed in the 1950’s. 15 game theorists have won the Nobel Prize to date.

***Editor’s Comment: And if you are writing this review you are definitely not a Nobel Laureate.

***Reviewer’s Comment: Not yet.
