An endless summer sure sounds swell, but for us COM an endless Oktoberfest is hard to beat.* It’s also hard on the liver. Ok, so not exactly endless, but a little Oktoberfest in November is good for the soul. Breakwall has whipped up a Marzen for some better late than never festing and we’re here to answer the call.
I recently made a V-twin site visit to Breakwall in PoCo to have a PoCo don’t you know. The ride was as chill as the taproom, and the beer as enjoyable as the ride. Time to see if this fester is less than the rest or can fest with the best.
This pour looks a-marzen, I can almost hear the oompah band playing in my ear, or maybe that’s my tinnitus. But just look at that pour, it’s a beauty. A thick creamy head, an amber hue of a brew. An aroma of malt caramel and bakery bread, it’s a meal deal. The first taste is malt caramel and bitters all together in harmonious co-existence. A smooth body with some semi-sharp bitters on the finish, makes for a well-balanced Marzen. And the creamy head is as endless as our festing, every time I look over at my glass I say to myself, damn that’s one fine looking beer. It has a full mouthfeel with the malt caramel with coppery bitters doing their balancing act.
Class in a glass. Let the festing continue.
