Can Lawn Hero Make the Cut?

Lawn Hero

Cameron's Brewing Co.

4% Alcohol

One may not be enough.

Once we found ourselves in the high grass we knew we had a problem that Houston couldn’t help us with. We needed a hero. Maybe a young Kevin Bacon dancing through the grist mill, all footloose and fancy free? Or a pre-mole removal Enrique Iglesias? Bowie suggested we may need more than one but Tina told us we don’t need another. * But none of these would help us now. We need to control the weeds, establish an irrigation strategy, aerate and fertilize, mow to the proper height.  What we really need is a lawn hero!

It’s Cameron’s Brewery to the rescue with, you guessed it, Lawn Hero Light IPA. No session suds will do, this one is certifiably light at a meager 4%. It may be too hot to carry out any strenuous physical labour like lawn mowing or dog walking, but it’s never too hot for a frosty cold brewski. Will Lawn Hero make the cut? Time to pour and score.

Bright golden, slightly hazy with a nicely trimmed head. An aroma of next to no citrus juice with some mild hops. First taste is a fizzy very mild citrus lemon-lime juice and a mid bitter surge to a light juice flat finish. Designed to be, and definitely, a big swigger. The juice shows up with next to no bitters and a bit of fizz on the finish.

A session IPA has it’s place but I was a bit skeptical about a light IPA. But this light lemony citrus juicer with a smooth to slightly fizzy finish is a cut above your typical light. Heroic might be too strong a descriptor, but on a hot as HE double hockey sticks kinda day that requires some major thirst quenching, it’s Lawn Hero to the rescue.

*Editor’s Comment: Bonnie Tyler’s 1984 song “Holding Out for a Hero” was from the Footloose soundtrack with Kevin Bacon as the dance crazy protagonist. Enrique Iglesias had a huge hit with his 2001 number one single “Hero”, the video with Jennifer Love Hewitt as his love interest and Mickey Rourke in hot pursuit of the couple on the run. In 2003 Enrique had the trademark mole on his face removed due to health concerns. Bowie’s 1977 song “Heroes” was covered more recently by the Hollywood Vampires with Johnny Depp on lead vocals. Tina Turner had a big hit with her 1985 song “We Don’t Need Another Hero” from the Mad Max Beyond the Thunderdome soundtrack.
