All those who wander are not lost, and all those who roam are not Roman. I’ve done my fair share of travelling and let me assure you, the novelty has worn off. Leon Redbone said “home is where you hang your hat.” Is it coincidence, or convenience, that I actually hang my hat at home? Somewhere between the beer fridge and the big screen to be exact.

But we don’t have to roam too far from home to pour and score this new Market from Newmarket brew. Market Brewing have teamed up with Cascade Brewing out of Portland Oregon for this hazy IPA collabeeration.

Roam foam. A healthy froth adorns this golden hazy pour. A light tropical fruit aroma emanates through the head to the nose. First taste was a very light tropical fruit with a touch of bitters and funk finish. Next swig evolved into mild fruit with a mild hoppy finish replacing any bitters or funk. The subsequent quaff is easy as 123 with the fruit starting to show up in earnest. Next thing I know the fruit falls back to it’s former mild status. This brew changes from swig to swig, what’s that all about? It keeps your taste buds on their toes, or would that be on their papillae?* Whatever it keeps your taste buds on, it’s tasty.

*Editor’s Comment: The taste buds are located within the sides and grooves of the papillae. For those of drinking age and older, there are between 2,000 to 4,000 taste buds, most being on the tongue. The sensory cells are renewed once a week, and perhaps more often after Buffalo wings. The active ingredient in hot sauces, capsaicin, can actually damage taste buds.
