The COM got together for a quaff and a laugh and some draft at Daft.* RA played it Coolcoolcool with a Daft pils while Farmer Steve practiced the Timeless Art of Seduction with a jam stand sour. Me, I decided to sample a bid adieu brew named Jon Voyage. Our server was very helpful, very knowledgeable. We were both alumni of Queen’s but the discussion about school days awkwardly ended when it was determined that I graduated before she was born.

Flight plan filed.
After our first serious sampling RA filed a flight plan and we were air borne when an 8-glass flight came out. We sampled the full range of Daft brews from Bare Naked to Never Nude.** It was an interesting, intriguing and at times eclectic flight of fancy. Part way through our flight the wheels fell off this taste testing and lift off was achieved.
As far as this Jon Voyage goes, just to be clear, it was sampled before we boarded the flight. The pour was a golden haze not unlike our post flight condition. A slim white head preceded my Voyage. A tropical fruity aroma, maybe some pineapple in the mix. It has a soft pillowy mouthfeel, lots of tropical fruit, definitely pineapple with citrus and maybe some stone fruit too. A veritable fruit salad, and pineapple sweet, quite sweet in fact. It had a mild funky hop malt backbone following the fruit sweet with some bitters. Complex but well balanced. The brew was consistent throughout, it was an artful balancing act for such a complex NEIPA.
I snagged some travellers on the way out, so I’m looking forward to my next Daft adventure.***
