Those refined fools are at it again. That’s right, another thirsty Thursday of prime time video tasting on the Crownsmen Show. I don’t recall what we talked about (some would say it’s all a bit hazy) although I’m sure it was an incredibly interesting and important topic guaranteed to leave you less misinformed than you are now, so make sure to tune in. But I do remember the brew review, because coincidentally it was a brew from another group of refined fools, the official refined fools at Refined Fool Brewing no less, and their new NEIPA “Hazy Roy. A Hazy Boy”. I resemble that remark.
They tell us “You’ll be thinking about Roy long after your last sip” and truer words were never spoken because here I am the next day writing a hazy review. Lucky that I took notes, wish I could find them.
A pretty pour, hazy as advertised, this Roy is a golden boy with a bit of a glow to it too. A fluffy white head of fulsome froth. Very much fruit and hops on the nose, hazy maybe but not shy. The taste is full fledged citrus tropical fruit with a nice soft mouthfeel (some, like RF, would say pillowy), that morphs into some hoppy grapefruit bitters. Nice sequence and well balanced. The fruit is about as much fruit as you can get in a pint without it going all puree on you. Not slap in the face or kick your ass bitters, more like an arm around the shoulder reassuring bitters.
The team approved of this one with six thumbs up, propelling another RF brew into super suds stardom.
