Me and Knopfler, just two twistin’ fools twisting by the pool. But we’re in no dire straits, just chillin’. * Time for a dip sans chips, so I swim a few widths. After such strenuous physical activity it’s time to hydrate with an adult beverage. Lazy Hazy? Could be me, or it could be my beer. A nice night in Canada sure beats an ICE night in LA if you ask me.
I hadn’t had a MacLean’s in a while so when I saw this light but not a light IPA in the beer fridge I thought to myself, since that is where I am often told to keep my thoughts, this is a perfect poolside pint and an alliteration opportunity all in one. **
In the lazy end of the day heat I find myself pouring and scoring a Lazy Hazy IPAzy. Tropical fruit aroma, I couldn’t catch a hop on the nose to save face. First taste is juice and malt bitters with a mild bitter backdrop, a bit of a busy start. But quickly the malt middle fades, leaving mild tropical and minimal hops and a slight bitter finish, a very nice sequence, easy going and refreshing. This is an easy drinking session like IPA. According to MacLean’s it is designed specifically for chilling and enjoying some me-time (i.e: drinking alone). By the time I was half done I wanted to start over it was so tasty. Lots of tropical flavour for an almost light. Minimal hops and bitters but with a full mouthfeel.
An almost light that’s just right.
