A Mystical Mono-Horned Laser Beast

Electric Unicorn

Phillips Brewing & Malting Co.

6.5% Alcohol

Why don’t they call them unihorns? Just saying…

This isn’t my first rodeo but I couldn’t seem to pour this one without a high tide, I tried twice.  More foam than a bubble bath in a PG rated movie.

According to the can this beer is “best enjoyed while riding a mystical mono-horned laser beast, racing through the galaxy to the sonic background of screaming metal guitars.”  Exactly what I was planning for my Wednesday night.

I have attended a few screaming metal guitar concerts in my day and may have seen a few imaginary high voltage beasts during or after but it was not the result drinking a white IPA, that’s for sure.

So this strong heady beer was a bit of a surprise. They also describe it as a hop-infused white ale. While drinking it I didn’t realize it was a strong beer until I read the can after. With 30% more alcohol than your regular beer, bonus booze, but very easy drinking and not at all hoppy.  It was quite a smooth quaff. Refreshing like you would expect from an IPA but no bitter.

Take away the unicorn with the laser eyes, and the screaming guitars and all the sonic cosmic bullshit, what you have is a great tasting, easy drinking and refreshing white IPA hop-infused ale beer.

*Editor’s Comment: What is the point of a unicorn?
Reviewer’s Comment: That joke was lamer than Festus on Gunsmoke.

**Editor’s Comment: When it comes to drinks, I thought Phillips only made screwdrivers?
Reviewer’s Comment: That joke was lamer than the last one.
