With the plethora of fake news these days, Bridgewater has hit on a topical title for their no booze brew, Fake Brews. I recall Mark Twain’s famous quote “A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth puts its boots on.” Then I find out that’s a lie, it wasn’t Mark Twain that said that at all!* As far as I’m concerned bullshit travels at the speed of sound while the truth gets slowed down by the facts, and you can quote me on that.
Meanwhile Good Housekeeping tells us that Santa is real! If you can’t believe Good Housekeeping Magazine anymore, who can you believe? The way I see it, the problem isn’t bullshitters, there have always been lots of outlandish storytellers ever since that first homo erectus fisherman told his buddies about the Ichthyosaurs that got away.** It’s when they start believing their own BS that the problems start.
Time to get back to reality with a COMDB brew review of this addition to our ongoing zero percent experiment.
A sort of clear super bright pour devoid of any headlines, fake or otherwise. A very mild malt Pilsner like aroma, a Pilsner being a lager don’t you know. The first taste is a very light citrus pale ale thing going on. No, it’s more like a sessionable West Coast Pilsner. My first thought as I took my first swig was “I bet I can down this brew in one gulp”. But that wouldn’t make for much of a review, would it? Then again, maybe it would. It is refreshing and light, no hops bitters or other typical beer like nuances. A nice light flavour to it, it is super sessionable, demanding big swigs.
News flash, one of the few super suds zeroes to grace our pages. This fake brew is keeping it real.
