How about that beer pic! Three beagle bitters with three beagles at Dr. B’s Beleaguered but not Bashful Beagle Boarding house. If you are thinking to yourself “enough with the alliterations” unfortunately that wasn’t the “b” all or end all. It appears that the three beagles in the picture were all collared and charged with a DUI (Dog Under the Influence) and that’s when MADD got involved (Mothers Against Drunk Dogs).  However I have been told by a reliable source (that being Dr.B.) that Dr,B has the situation well in hand. Beagle rehab perhaps?

Cheers

Beer swilling Beagles * are not a new phenomenon. Number 1 beagle, Snoopy, * was known to quaff a frosty cold one every now and then as well. Dominion City has brewed this Beagle Bitter beer for human consumption, Dr.B’s assessment was “The Beagle is pretty good but the Hazy Roy is just so-so. Now THAT was a real surprise.” I believe that comment included a personal affront which I chose to ignore. Time to see if this brew is man’s best friend or just another dog.

A golden pour retrieved, with a thin white head unleashed. The aroma is light and fresh, malt bread. First taste is easy drinking malt with a touch of fruit and a slightly bitter and dry finish. It’s busy but not fizzy, and very nice. It passed the big swig taste test with red and white flag flying colours. A nice flavoured easy drinking ale, a big swigger and fridge stocker. I really enjoyed this one.

*Editor’s Comment: To be clear, Dr. B’s beagles did not drink any beer. It isn’t safe for dogs to drink alcohol. Their systems cannot metabolize alcohol so beverages and foods containing it are unhealthy and can be toxic to them.

**Editor’s Comment: Inspired by his childhood dog Spike, according to Charles M. Schulz “ Snoopy didn’t start out being a beagle, it’s just that beagle is a funny word.” The American Kennel Club made an exception to its rule that dogs must be real to be registered and gave Snoopy the honorary registration number of Beagle-1. By the way, the beer that is Snoopy’s drink of choice is root beer.
