While watching Dallas getting their lunch, breakfast and dinner handed to them by the 49ers last night, I needed some spirits to lift my spirits. Sunday night football spirit raising sounded like a job for the Church. It just so happens that my neighbourhood church is Silversmith Brewery, and I just happened to have their tribute to the tropics in my beer fridge. I also just happened to have a frosty glass to pour that brew into. So as happenstance would have it, it was a Tropical Situation.*
A bright hazy grapefruit yellow pour, spirits poured and anticipation rising. Wispy head not much standing between me and this tropical taste test. The citrus malt mix makes for an odd/unique aroma. The first taste is a juicy wow. What a nice fruity refresher pineapple citrus pale. All juice no hops or bitters to start off with. Second swig had just a touch, a tad, a trace, of grapefruit bitters. Easy drinker big swig refresher. This pale ale stayed citrus pineapple juicy with mild grapefruit bitters for a slightly crisp finish.
It didn’t change Dallas being on the wrong end of an ass kicking, but it did alter my disposition. I went from “What the hell do they think they’re doing.” to an Alfred E. Neuman “What, me worry?” **
Super juicer plus subtle bitters. Does super + subtle = superb? In this case it does. Great beer.
