On the home front a two-way conversation for me usually involves a lot of listening, the occasional head nod, and me being corrected if I do get a word in edge wise. Case in point is my failed attempt to bring Jello to the company potluck, but that’s another story, literally. The Two-Way from The Exchange is not a one-sided conversation, but an old school high IBU lots of bitter in the batter IPA. The promise of pine. Not a pine air freshener, a pine refresher.
Dark, amber and hazy, the pour takes a back seat to the aroma. You guessed it. Pine! More pine than the Walmart parking lot on Christmas Eve. Hang this one from the rearview mirror. Second sniff uncovers some tropical fruit in what is shaping up to be a classic. The taste of pine is up front and center, fond memories of the pinewoods at RM’s cottage. Yes, that piney. The substantial pine bitters are followed by some nice citrus fruit in the background. The pine is Page and Plant, the juice is the Johns.* It settles into a refreshing wake you up pine bitters forward juicy IPA. If you’re pining for an old school IPA it’s time for a Two-Way toast. For pine lovers looking for a pine fest, this pine is just fine.
I’m usually one and done but this one is so good I got thinking about one more. If I had another, would that make it a three way? One can only hope. Another super suds offering from the Exchange.
