Amber how do I love thee, let me count the ways,
Your pore I adore, and what’s more, an aroma of toffee, oft greets me.
I love thy caramel malt countenance, your lager sweet innocence,
And how you dwell not on bitter thought, but on that smooth finish I like a lot.
All in balance is a nice touch, but a hoppy amber I like not so much. *
An amber from Taps, on tap! Coincidence? I think not. I believe I have previously mentioned my feelings about Amber, one of my personal favourites, so my anticipation was as high as my hopes.
A reddish brown pour, bubbly, minimal head. Fresh mildly malt and hoppy aroma. It has a creamy nitro mouthfeel to start. Not a lot of caramel, as in minimal, but some hops for a mild hoppy finish. It has almost a tangy feel to it from the malt caramel & hops cross breeding. The hops back off a bit but by this time the malt caramel was a bit too shy to take center stage.
The nitro mouthfeel faded quickly. This is a hoppier amber than I’m used to, an OK brew, but not the Amber I’ve grown to love over the years of beers.
