Two Pacific Loons

For all you amateur ornithologists out there, yes there is such a thing as a Pacific Loon, which not coincidentally is a West coast diver, although not unlike another West Coast group, the Beach Boys, it gets around. *

This is our second Two Loons, the first being Two Loons, a debut so nice it was reviewed twice. ** Is Two Loons a one hop wonder or will these sophomore suds sustain super suds status.  One wonders.

It sure starts out great, a beauty pour with some feisty froth atop the liquid gold. The aroma is light juicy sweet with some background hoppiness. First taste is a watery light mouthfeel with subtle juiciness with a touch of hops and a light bitter finish. All light and well balanced. It is close to a session IPA, making it very drinkable, and belying its 6.9% ABV.  A tasty mild big swigger. It is busy but light, but all the flavour is there. Just when it mellows you a bit that backend bitter bite wakes you up to let you know that you’re dealing with a no-nonsense IPA.

Pacific Loon, loon number 2, is another great loon from Two Loons.

*Editor’s Comment: The Pacific Loon’s natural habitat is the North Pacific, which includes Northwestern Canada, Alaska and Russia. But the birds often migrate in flocks, unlike the other Loons, and have been sighted in Greenland, China, Japan, North and South Korea, Great Britian, Spain, Finland and Mexico among other countries. The 1964 Beach Boys hit “I Get Around” was penned by Wilson and Love and was a number 1 hit in Canada and the US.

**Editor’s Comment: Two Loons IPA scored a 17 Super Suds rating by our Reviewer and by a Guest Reviewer as well.
