I’m on the BBQ brew deck and these chops aren’t going to cook themselves. Hot day today, it may end up being the BBQ brew or two deck. And today we have another brew vying to join the Top 5 BBQ Brew list. I recently had a quantum hug, now it’s a bear hug. Feeling the IPA love this week.
Bears are a popular mascot for brewers. It also seems like bears may be attracted to beer, and I wouldn’t blame them for that. It is one good reason not to spill any beer when you are camping*, as if you needed a good reason not to spill beer.
Nice golden slightly hazy pour, almost glowing. Nice bright white head, not in the clouds but close. This brew has a mild fruit aroma with definite hops in waiting. The first swig was mild fruit and hops with a strong hoppy bitter finish. As I made my way down the glass, swig by enjoyable swig, the bitter faded but a bit of bitter stayed the course. It all made for a nicely balanced good traditional IPA. This bear puts on quite the balancing act.
I didn’t realize until after I had finished this brew that it was a 7 percenter. Packs a punch but it is easy drinking, it doesn’t come on strong. It’s not boozy like some similar ABV brews, which allowed me to enjoy the full flavour.
