Bud is loco for cocoa
It’s Christmas Eve eve. No that’s not a holiday greeting in the Garden of Eden, but a redundant day before Christmas eve moniker.* Beli-eve Eve? It also seems like an ideal eve for a chocolate stout, because after all what Cranky Old Christmas countdown would be complete without some cocoa in the count.
We hadn’t sampled a Lost Craft in a while, and quite honestly I thought that ship had sailed. But here we are with a Bud ** approved sweet sounding Caramilk Stout. If that elf had any teeth, they’d all be sweet.
A darker than dark chocolate pour, barely enough froth to blow off. Aroma is every bit a milk chocolate stout and then some! A light nitro mouthfeel. It starts out almost too cocoa as in loco oh no cocoa, but never quite crosses the line. Smooth, light on the roast malt. If you are looking for espresso, a cup of joe to go, you’ll have to head to Timmies because the only beans in this brewski are of the cocoa variety. It has a subtle (thank goodness) vanilla presence, which compliments the chocolate nicely. I was concerned about an over the top stout, but this one is hard to top. Just what the elf ordered.
