It’s US thanksgiving, so let’s talk turkey. It’s football day in America and I’m game. And of course, Black Friday. So named because that is the day your bank account goes from black to red, signifying that Christmas is just around the corner. Sounds like it’s stout sampling time!
The Department of Joy and Mirth already has the interior decorated, the holiday music channel blaring, with more nativity scenes than downtown Salt Lake City.*
Unfortunately those red and white outdoor lights aren’t going to put themselves up, as I have been reminded by everyone in the household on numerous occasions. Weekend job. But in the spirit of Christmas we harken, not unlike the angels, to some traditions that are near and dear to our hearts. Some heart harkening going on here.
That’s right, we are only a few days away from December and you know what that means! Yes, any day now I expect to get a visit from Bud, the Elf on the Beer Shelf. Although he is not here yet in the flesh, or the cloth as may be the case, he is here in spirit as we sample this Side Launch Mocha Stout.
A Black Friday special pour, with a slim tan price tag topper. It smells soooo good, loco cocoa roasted malt. The first taste is a classic and classy stout with an extra dollop of Nestles in the mix. An ever so slight fizz and a smooth as silk and satin finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Roasted malt, major mocha and a touch of espresso, and voila one very tasty stout. The cocoa stands out, which makes this brew a stand out, that’s what that’s all about. The imbalanced is perfectly balanced. **
