The legend of the Blarney Stone is that those who kiss it are bestowed “the gift of gab”. * I can think of a few politicians who probably not only kissed it but may have sucked on it for a while. Come to think of it, there are a few that may have swallowed it and passed that stone. With that visual I think I will strike “kissing the blarney stone” off my bucket list.

Quayle’s. Impressed with how impressive it is.
But when it comes to Quayle’s Brewery, I had sampled a few of their fine brews but their Blarney Stone Irish Stout was something I had to experience first hand, as in a visit to the premises. JT had been there and remarked about how remarkable it was, when he played their Right Bauer. I followed suit, and I was impressed at how impressive it was. But is their Irish Stout as impressive as their facilities? Do tell.
A classy and classic stout presentation. Pitch black and tan. A mild roast malt aroma. First taste is a thin mouthfeel with a strong cocoa followed by coffee bitters. No shortage of flavour here. Coffee and cocoa are doing a tag team on this one, a stout lovers stout. The inevitable comparison, more flavourful but not as creamy as a Guinness. And the not so inevitable comparison, the Brew Dog challenge. It’s not as creamy or as sweet as a Black Heart, but more flavorful.
The verdict, a remarkable and impressive Irish stout. And I didn’t have to travel to Ireland to kiss a block of carboniferous limestone. By the way, kissing a stone to get the “gift of gab”, sounds like a load of Blarney to me.
