Impact, a tribute to the comet that scarred the earth 1.8 billion years ago right where the town of Sudbury is today. Celestial suds! In addition to leaving a big crater, that comet also altered the crust of the earth, resulting in lots of nickel and putting Sudbury on the map, literally. This old school German ale is an interesting type of beer to team up with the name Impact. I would have thought it a more appropriate name for a high octane IPA for example, but I don’t name them, I just drink them.
I poured this beer into my new upside down beer bottle chill glass which the missus gave me for my birthday. I take a gift like this as her tacit approval of me quaffing the occasional brew while watching the game.*
Nice copper amber pour, minimal head which was gone before I even lifted the glass. Malty aroma, nice. Full malt flavour. This altbier (old beer) tastes much like our modern day ambers. Full flavour, smooth drink start to finish. No impact on the finish, not at all hoppy or bitter. A nice smooth easy drinking full flavoured ale.
