Normally an ale, this blonde is lagered and Henderson is not calling it an ale. I had someone try to explain the variation that would make for a lagered Blonde – but I started getting cranky and couldn’t follow the explanation. I guess that’s why I drink and review them and leave the art of creation to the brewmasters. For the more casual beer drinker, let’s just say this is not your typical Blonde. It is more balanced than you would expect without the tanginess that often accompanies traditional Blondes.
I guess the name of the beer is “Food Truck” although you have to squint your eyes to find that on the can label. They put Blonde in the largest font – so that is where your eye catches. Probably a good decision, “Food Truck” doesn’t really give me a good feel for what is in the can – which is really quite tasty. That name doesn’t really give you any clue to what might be inside the can.
Not normally my favourite style, I find this one is really quite good. It has a distinct hopiness but with no after taste. An excellent thirst quencher for a summer day. Henderson is not always available in my local outlets – but they rarely disappoint when I’ve tried them out.
