On the way to dinner with the family and the grandkids are bickering back and forth. They were driving me to drink and it wasn’t a long drive*.

We get to the restaurant and I ask the waiter what’s local on draft and he says Wiseacre**, which immediately reminds of the grandkids and their smart ass comments, so I ordered one up, a Wiseacre Tiny Bomb pilsner that is, not a smart ass comment. From Wiseacre Brewers out of Memphis Tennessee no less, long live the king, although he’s been dead for 45 years. I digress once again.

This pilsner is fresh and cold and golden, a Czech style with a bit of grain and malt but not like a European pilsner.  I think it is mellowed out a bit by the honey or some other smoothing ingredient.  A pilsner with a bit of a unique taste,  americanized perhaps? Whatever they did to it, it was a nice before and with dinner brew. Certainly a craft pilsner, not your run of the mill pil.

*Editor's Comment: For you usually more like a short walk from the lazy boy to the beer fridge .

**Editor's Comment: Although Farmer Steve may think of a wise acre as a savvy property investment, in this case the term wiseacre is an expression from back in the day that refers to a know it all.

Final Rating: No Run of the Mill Pil at 14 out of 20
