Twelve cats on the can, but I can’t for the life of me figure out what the name has to do about anything, not even about the price of tea in China. But we all know what Shakespeare thought about names.
A nice bright golden hazy pour, sliver of white on top. A crisp aroma, citrusy. When it comes to a cranky old spinster lady with too many cats, you would think she would be bitter but you would be wrong. My first taste of this strong double hopped IPA was surprising because it was so smooth. It had crisp fruit and zing but no bitter. None. But it does have a kick to it, after a few of these a cranky old cat lady might seem like good company. Refreshing as you would expect from an IPA. Hazy with a little sediment at the bottom, a little kitty litter perhaps?
I noticed oats in the ingredients. Perhaps the addition of oats* into this brew has smoothed it out? I tried to determine a connection between a cat lady and sewing wild oats but nothing came up, the two concepts are so incongruous, maybe that’s the connection?**
The oats seem like an experiment gone right, they have certainly been part of making this beer a smooth, unique and refreshing IPA, enjoyable.
