On the BBQ deck and this patio is licensed. The grillmaster (to be clear, that’s me) is in need of hydration of the malt and barley variety. An Original Lager from Shawn and Ed might just check that box. After my last poor pour I am taking no chances and drinking right out of this thermos bottle. It looks like this bottle could keep my beer cold and my soup warm.
This is a nice mellow easy drinking traditional lager, a bit more flavour than your big brewer brews. It is a safe bet that will be ok with most beer drinkers, not adventurous. Solid and a good flavoured basic lager. It went down fairly quick but the thermos bottle didn’t keep it as cold as I thought it would? I had this experience last time I sampled an aluminum thermos style bottle. Thermodynamics theory be damned, here is my theory. I am used to drinking out of a glass which allows me at times to take a substantial swig, or two or three depending on my thirst or if the Leafs score. As per the COMDB Guide to Beer Tasting, a bottle slows your consumption a bit, allowing more time for the beer to warm?*
I think this beer is designed for coolers full of ice on the beach and at tailgate parties. Chill and swill at will, pour optional. As easy going as two guys named Shawn and Ed who would name their brewery Shawn and Ed Brewing Co.
