My first thought was what is a Cryo IPA? Are the hops cryogenically frozen like Walt Disney’s head? Upon further research the answer is yes and no. Yes, in that Cryo hops are cryogenically frozen to separate the flavor producing part of the hop from the rest of the flower. No in that Walt Disney’s head, or any other part of him, was ever frozen. *
My next thought was that I have experienced a few summer frosts in the Northern part of the great white North. Then I thought about the poem A Summer’s Garden by Robert Frost.**
Then I thought that my Couchiching Summer Frost may be not quite as frosty as when I first poured it. Then I thought to myself too much thinking and not enough drinking, which come to think of it was never a problem at University. There I go thinking again.
A multi shaded pour of gold and orange, fall colours for this Summer Frost. Not surprisingly a frosty froth atop. It actually smells frosty, and fruity. The first quaff was medicinal, OK if your Buckley’s but not good for what ails me which is a powerful thirst. It started to settle down a bit into a mild fruit with mid quaff bitters and a clean finish, I find the fruit and bitters competing rather than complementing. They are in sequence with no hoppiness at all. It’s a middlin’ juicer with mild bitters and a fresh and refreshing taste. It got off to a bit of a rocky start then settled down, then the bitters came back big time. This brew keeps you on your toes.
An OK brew for some summer chillin’.
