The Department of Morality calls the grand kids li’l angels. I wouldn’t go so far as to call them li’l heathens (like my Grandparents used to call us) but there are a couple of slightly tarnished halos in the mix. Maybe li’l rascals might be a reasonable compromise.
When it comes to those philosophizing Flying Monkeys, I’m no heathen, I’m a true believer. But I gotta tell ya’ their flight plan was off on this one, this brew didn’t land well with me.
They call this one hazy, it pours more translucent to me, an apple juice golden with a hazy heathen head. It has a super juicy, as in juicyfruit gum aroma, with mild hops in the background. Smells great! Unfortunately the taste is not nearly as juicy as the aroma, in fact it’s kinda flat and fizzy, not hoppy and just a tinge of a bitter aftertaste. The Flying Monkey team always tell us that normal is weird, but when the aroma is juice and the taste isn’t, that’s weird and not at all normal. The fruit isn’t really showing up at all, so all you get is fizz and flat bitters with the pie crust promise of possible juiciness. Even a bit of juice would make this a not perfect but more palatable pint.
When it comes to Li’l Heathens FM say “it’s mostly harmless”, I would say it’s mostly charmless.
*Editor’s Comment: The term heathen traditionally refers to someone who does not believe in an established religion. But in a broader context the word is often used to describe someone who is unenlightened, lacking in culture and moral principles. With that in mind this website could accurately be called Cranky Old Heathens Drinking Beer.
