A little can of amber, Czech style nonetheless. Don’t we usually get 500ml of an International brew, not an old 355ml stubby.. I tried to pronounce the name, I guess I will just call this one Czech Amber. A darker than amber pour, more like a solid brown, thin off white head, not a bubbly personality. A light amber aroma.**
Harsh first swig, the grain takes you to the fields, the malt flavour you usually find in an amber is minimal. Not hoppy or bitter. The Czech grain taste is dominant, just like in a Czech Pilsner, only darker. The harshness settled down into a passable amber but not one of the top ones on my list.
Not as smooth and malty as I like in an amber, but if your favorite Pilsner is Czech style, this could be your favourite amber.
