Some relatives are better than others. I was visiting my brother in-law recently after surviving dry February, when he presented me with some samples from his recent visit to Farm league Brewing. Who doesn’t like a relative that greets you with some new, cold brews?
This is a new brewery in Galt, Ontario – which after some quick work with Google maps , I’ve figured out is near Waterloo/Cambridge. Not sure where the name comes from, but this could be farm country, or at least close to it. Now that I know where it is, I’m going to Galt myself. Might have to try to persuade our own Farmer Steve to come with me to test the authenticity of the Farm connection?
This brew was called Big Ticket Kolsch. Kolsch style beer is pretty good and I find they are fairly true to the original German flavour. This one is no exception. A clean, pale colour that is sharp and a little sour at first, then dry with a pleasant malt taste. Some bitterness at the finish.
If you are familiar with the style, you’ll find this is a great sample. Cheers to my brother from another mother for finding this gem and for saving it for me.
