Easy to SLAM?

Canadian Heritage Gold

Hespeler Brewing Co.

5% Alcohol

This review started out with some unaccustomed challenges. First I get the hiccups, then I forgot I had them and when I remembered that I had them they were gone. Then I ran out of chips but still had dip. So a trip to the pantry and I find Pringles. What the hell kind of sad excuse for a chip are these things. Too thin to dip, breaking all the time. Are they made of real potatoes? Chemical chips, they can’t be healthy for you like my normal chips.

The beer can says this pilsner was brewed with hops that were grown over 100 years ago that they found in some farmer’s field in Southern Ontario. The marketing people came in and instead of calling this beer Stale Backfield Hops, they called it Canadian Heritage Gold. But we all know the truth is in the can, not what is on the can.

So I am watching the game with this nice golden pilsner. And golden it is, bright gold. Northern lights bright. They say this beer is “Fresh, Crisp and Easy to SLAM.” Their capitalization and italics. In our day we would say chug, I guess today they call it slamming. I don’t chug beer any more, these days I drink for taste not for effect. I would rather enjoy one start to finish, however I found this one a bit bitter from start to finish. Not enough to not enjoy it, just enough to wish it was a bit less bitter. It is a refreshing beer, that’s for sure, very fresh and crisp. Crispier than these damn Pringles.

Nice tasting pilsner, a bit bitter for my tastes but still a refreshing brew.
