Let It Fly

Market Brewing Co.

4% Alcohol

On this special Canada Day review we are hoisting Market’s lite beer, Let It Fly, up the proverbial flag pole to see who salutes it. In this case Let It Fly is of course referring to our flag, the beloved maple leaf*. You didn’t think I would be reviewing a Canadian today, did you?

One of the many things that is great about Canada is how welcoming we are of all. Just like Canada, this website is accepting of all creeds, those who drink beer and those who don’t. Although we are a tad suspicious of the latter, and come to think of it we keep an eye on the former too.  The point is all are welcome.

This lite beer pours bright light with next to no head. Light fruit aroma but the first taste is light malt with a bit of fizz. More flavour than usual for a lite beer. The fruit starts to come into play as I make my way down the glass. A touch of bitter that comes and goes but it is mainly a smooth finish. A lite malt with very lite fruit in the mix. An afternoon by the lake (not on it) sunny day refreshment.

Editor's Comment: The origin of the current maple leaf flag was a battle of wills and politics between Lester Pearson and John Diefenbaker. Pearson eventually won the day in 1965 when the new flag, the Maple Leaf we know and love today, was approved by Parliament. The chosen flag design was by George Stanley, dean of arts at the Royal Military College of Canada.
