In an act of extreme patriotism the likes of which have seldom been seen outside of wartime, I find myself (a 60 year Maple Leafs fan) cheering for the Montreal Canadiens, the only Canadian team left in the playoffs. Is this a Twilight Zone episode of some parallel but reversed dimension? A creepy, scary and genuinely disconcerting feeling. I needed a frosty brew to add a touch of reality to an unreal situation.
So is it a coincidence that I am drinking a Detour while cheering for the hated Habs? This dry hopped ISA (India Session Ale) is easy drinking but with a unique taste, and true to their words, it takes you off the beaten path. Of course, we also know that the beaten path is there for a reason, it is usually the better one. I know we all hate to see those road signs “Detour Ahead”, when traffic slows and the GPS can no longer help.
More fruity or floral than bitter but not excessively so, a different tasting IPA, it is an ISA . It was OK, a departure from the ordinary for sure. Not exactly my adult beverage of choice usually but perhaps an interesting detour to take while having a beer in some parallel dimension off the beaten path.
