I hadn’t been to the big red barn in forever and a day, so I thought to myself today’s the day. The Oast taproom was so quiet you could hear a teardrop, but no one was crying in their beer, no sirree. Because out back on the patio and the balcony there was some daytime drinkin’ going down. The TGIF crowd was loud and proud, out in numbers and blowin’ off some froth.

Big red barn beer
I asked what’s new and they said the Apricot IPA keg was just tapped yesterday, as fresh as a liquored-up lothario. * It sounded like a fruitful endeavour to me. **
An apricot coloured puree of a pour, thick and rich. Definitely an apricot aroma, it’s a stone fruit free for all. First quaff is upfront apricot right away into hoppy bitters, both full flavoured and oh so nicely balanced, leading into a tart finish and aftertaste. It’s only a tart of two short of a full sour. A big swig yields less fruit and more grapefruit bitters. May I suggest big swigs for those partial to bitters, middlin’ swigs for all you jolly juicers. I quite enjoyed this one.
I wasn’t raised in a barn but my glass was, in a toast to my host, Oast.
