Fridge to Fireside

Keller Premium Lager

Brouwerij Martens Brewery

5% Alcohol

A Belgian beer from Bavarian born master brewer Berthold (not Helen)* Keller. I liked the clean crisp can, it stood out on the shelf so it ended up in my fridge, and from there fireside. Chilled, poured and Bob’s your uncle*.

Clear golden pour, looks great in front of the fire, reflecting on life. Minimal head when poured and it dissipated quickly.  My first swig was a generous one, I wasn’t in a sipping mood. Great mouthfeel, good malt flavour. Smooth, no bitters or hops, just a malt grain finish typical of many European lagers but not as pronounced. On the can it says they have “fused styles”. Not quite sure what they are referring to, it doesn’t seem like a very complex lager to me.

I enjoyed it, a good solid lager.

*Editor’s Comment: The Helen Keller is actually a drink made with Grenadine, Melon liqueur, Rye or Whiskey, Triple Sec, and Vodka. Maybe you should stick to beer, I would hate to have to deal with you after a few of those.

**Editor’s Comment: I had an Uncle Bill and Uncle Don but no Uncle Bob.

Reviewer’s Comment: Not that you know of.
