I gave this beer every chance for success. Chilled glass, salty snack, big game on the tube. Parked myself in my comfy tasting/ sports viewing chair. Nice golden pour, nice foam head. They call it a strong beer at 5.6, but only just. Unfortunately, despite all the tasting stars being aligned, this beer didn’t shine for me.

Let’s start out by saying it isn’t frisky, playful or sprite like. I tend to think of a hoppy IPA/ refreshing brew as frisky. This was just too flavorful, to put it nicely. The coldness of my brew competed with an earthy taste. Eventually that earthy taste ended up front and center and overpowered the chill, or any other aspect of this brew. It’s too bad, it was an OK quaff for a bit but instead of fading like is sometimes the case, the earthy tones took over big time.

This may be an acquired taste but for me this acquisition would not be a friendly takeover. Maybe it should be called Frisky Peat.  Some may like this type of brew, but it’s not for me.
