Another defining moment in COMDB history! The standard definition of dank is unpleasantly moist or humid. The word is also used to describe high quality marijuana as in “That’s some dank weed you’ve got there, man.” Not coincidentally, some of the hops used in IPAs have a smell reminiscent of cannabis. These self-same hops often have earthy, piney or woodsy notes to them and when they are used in brewing, the resulting brew may be deemed dank because of the aroma that these hops generate. When it comes to beer, more and more brews are called dank, perhaps not accurately. But I can say without pause, hesitation, or trepidation, that this one is. It’s not just dank, but a dangerously daring double dank-zilla dank. Time to get some dank in the tank.
Godzilla was Japan’s answer to King Kong,* a cheesy giant lizard monster movie that has bred more sequels than DiCaprio girlfriends. This is Rouge River’s tribute to the lizard king, a dive-in double feature that they call a “monstrously delicious IPA with earth shaking flavour”. One can hope.
An extra thick extra pulp extra orange pour. More orange than an orange, with a slim white creamsicle foam float of a head. OJ citrus stone fruit grapefruit aroma. Wow, super juicy with the promised dank grapefruit bitters finish and a mild high ABV boozy back bite and aftertaste typical of a double. An OJ grapefruit smoothy of the adult beverage variety. It’s actually quite tasty. Every fruit from the Garden of Eden in this one, except apple, so unfortunately I’m not getting any smarter. It got dankier and boozier as I made my way to the bottom.**
A dank and delicious double. Juicy IPA lovers will enjoy this one.
