A globetrotting theme started the evening with some exotic international cuisine. Chinese food delivered. I wrote a little poem to commemorate (commiserate) the event (ordeal).
Got Chinese food for the whole brood, $100 bucks, that sucks,
Did I mention, it was the missus’ suggestion, and I don’t know if it was the rice or the price that has left me with indigestion.
My globetrotting continued with a German black lager. May the schwarz be with you. Where in the world is Cornelius Sandiego they ask us, who I assume is the All or Nothing official globetrotting adventurer searching for unique brews in foreign venues. My kids played the video game “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego”* when it first came out. That was back in the day when video games were educational. I guess today they are educational too if you are learning how to steal cars** or dismember an orc.
So I am seeing the world from my comfy sampling chair, an armchair tourist, or brewist as the case would be. This dark German lager pours as dark as Carmen’s thieving intentions. A head was in the offing but mostly dissipated before I could click the pic. Great roasted malt aroma, the slop suey and egg foo old becoming a distant memory. Full roasted malt flavour with a bit of fizz and a slightly sweet finish, very tasty. Next to no bitter, which makes for a smooth finish. The traditional lager stout that is a Schwarzbier but a bit fizzy. The fizz surprised me for a dark lager but it worked well. Big swig forgiving, it is smooth and robust. Very good.
My fortune cookie said “the best is yet to come” and it wasn’t lying.
